The Arizona Science Center Goes Virtual — Fun Things To Do In Scottsdale with Kids
The Arizona Science Center is located in the heart of downtown Phoenix, within walking distance to nearby attractions, and most importantly a less than an hour drive from Scottsdale. However, with the current situation we’re in and the issue with Pandemic, we want to be on the safe side and stay at home with our kids.
The Arizona Science Center has provided a platform to continue the learning and the fun things to do for kids with the Online Learning.

Experience Science At Home — A Fun Thing To Do In Scottsdale With Kids At Home
As a parent, juggling our new “virtual” lives isn’t easy. We’re all learning how to best support our children’s learning in this new normal.
Arizona Science Center is here to help. Think of it as new virtual classroom resource for bringing science to life at home. From weekly lesson plans to hands-on experiments and even DIY activities. They are here to make learning together at home a little easier for you and a lot more fun for the whole family.
Their team is available virtually every Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. on Facebook Live to support you through every step of this new normal. Together, you can review lesson plans, share helpful resources, and provide virtual learning best practices like creating schedules, tackling challenges, and even setting up your home “classroom”.
They have new weekly lesson plans and are offering hands-on activities, experiments and virtual teaching support to inspire, educate and engage curious minds through science. Targeting grades K-8, each week’s content offers 150 minutes of education aligned with the State of Arizona Science Standards.
In any scenarios you won’t be able to join during the week or just have a question, you may ask them via email at cll@azscience.org.
Another Fun Thing To Do In Scottsdale With Kids Is Attending the Camp Innovation
It’s been a challenging couple of months. The Arizona Science Center is here to help. Guided by the recommendations from the American Camp Association, as well as state, city, and county public health officials, Arizona Science Center is offering a modified version of their traditional summer camps. There are two NEW camp options: virtual and limited in-person.

The virtual camps deliver the same interactive experience in a new format that includes a 90-minute Zoom Call with one-on-one instruction from camp staff that includes game and movement breaks, conversation with other campers, and an off-screen activity to do each day. Additional resources will also be provided virtually for at home self-guided extension activities. Each camp day also includes an optional 12:30 p.m. Facebook Live event that corresponds to the weekly theme. Each camp day comes with an optional Family Zoom Call from 5:00 p.m.-–5:30 p.m. that allows campers the opportunity to show off their work, ask questions, and connect with other campers and staff.
For our limited in-person camps, Arizona Science Center will enforce strict health and safety guidelines for all camps and team members. Requirements such as social distancing, frequent hand washing and wearing a mask at all times will all be observed. Early drop off and late pick up will be available from 8:00 a.m.– 5:30 p.m.
These offerings will tap into your kid’s natural curiosity, giving them the opportunity to become innovators through teamwork and hands-on creative problem-solving. Learning Science does not have to stop, and may continue even at home. So put this on your list of fun things things to do in Scottsdale with kids!
